This month's featured note is from the Czech Republic.
The denomination is 500 Korun and the Standard Catalog of World Paper Money (SCWPM) Number is P-20.


(obverse)
The banknote is dark brown, brown and brown-violet on pink and tan underprint.  Mrs. Bozena Némcová (1820-1862) is at right and a large rose is at center.  Mrs. Némcová, a Czech novelist and storyteller, developed the regional tale, which she enhanced with an original prose style.  Her major works include "The Grandmother" and "Mountain Village" along with a published collection of Slovak folk tales.

The note is dated 1997.

Laureate young woman's head at left center.  The Czech coat of arms is at right center and a stylized rose is at far right.
