(obverse)
The banknote is dark brown, green and red-brown on multicolored under print.  King Hussein bin Talal (1935-1999) is at center right.  His majesty King Hussein bin Talal, the father of modern Jordan, will always be remembered as a leader who guided his country through strife and turmoil to become an oasis of peace, stability and moderation in the Middle East.  At the time of his passing on February 7, 1999, His Majesty was the longest serving executive head of state in the world.  Of great significance to Muslims throughout the world, the late King Hussein was also the forty-second generation direct descendent of the Prophet Muhammad.

The above information was obtained from the King Hussein I website

The note is dated AH 1415/1995.

The Dome of the Rock, Jerusalem, Israel is at left center. The Dome of the Rock, the first Muslim masterpiece, was built in 687 A.C. by Caliph Abd al-Malik, half a century after the death of the Prophet Muhammad.  The rock marks the site from where the Prophet Muhammad made his Miraaj or
Night Journey into the heavens and back to Makkah (Qur'an 17:1).  Travelers and pilgrims have compared the cupola to a mountain made up of supernatural light, or else a sun when its gold glitters in the dazzling light of Middle Eastern mornings, noon and dusks, with endless variations in the intensity of shades.
