Marc Béoutis' Diving Page

This page is my first attempt at conveying the exhilaration that divers experience through their favorite activity (and I do not mean nitrogen narcosis induced!). Please feel free to provide me your feedback as to what you would like to see throughout this section.

I have been a PADI scuba diving instructor since 1991. I did most of my diving in Northern California (Ahh, Monterey!) and the French Mediterranean before moving to Australia. Unfortunately, I chose the wrong spot (although some will argue this point) and landed in Melbourne. To those of you unfamiliar with Australia in general, and with Melbourne in particular, this is NOT what you see on travel brochures or on TV. It is cold, murky, and can be pretty rough outside of Port Phillip Bay. Some days, I wish I were in Queensland, diving on the Great Barrier Reef!!!

Talking about Queensland and the Barrier Reef, here is a bit of trivia: you probably know that the Australian Great Barrier Reef is the longest coral reef in the world. Which is the second longest reef in the World (Hint: it is in the Western Hemisphere)? You will find the answer on my Diving Software page.

I would like this page to help divers of all levels to improve their skills, and possibly learn a thing or two. So, if you have any question about diving, do not hesitate to contact me. I'll endeavor to answer your questions as rapidly as I possibly can.
