In general usage, Oceania is the collective name for the islands
scattered throughout most of the Pacific Ocean. Numismatically,
Oceania is the name applied to the Gilbert and Solomon Islands,
New Britain, and Papua New Guinea, hence the British
denominations. The notes on this page are from the Japanese
Occupation period of WW II.
