Acquisitions for Year 2008
and Site
Update
As of: 15 February 2008
Permanent Note:
DONATED SCANS MUST BE SCANS THAT THE CONTRIBUTOR HAS PERSONALLY MADE OF NOTES THAT THEY OWN OR ACTUAL NOTES THAT THEY HAVE HELD IN THEIR OWN HANDS AND WERE ABLE TO MAKE A SCAN. More and more frequently I am receiving scans that are obtained from other sites to include Central Bank sites or reference books, I cannot use scans obtained in this manner. Even if a site says that the scan can be copied, the rights to the image still remain with the originator. Persons who donate scans obtained in this manner (without giving the exact origin of the scan) are in violation of copyright laws, regardless of their good intentions and all scans they submitted will be deleted. The bottom line is, you can't contribute something as yours that you have no right to give!
UPDATE:
I believe I've updated the old "PNews" as much as possible, based on the current catalog. I usually don't catch renumbered entries unless I accidentally stumble across them while updating donated scans, so if you see something that has changed please let me know. Also, it has been pointed out to me that Cambodia needs work on the signature variations of some issues. Again, any help in pointing them out and giving me the proper designation will be much appreciated.
Things are going a lot slower than I anticipated. Mostly because of work related issues and problems with old computer equipment at home. I have already moved several hundred scans from Frank van Tiel, Spartan, Tod Hunt, Omer Yalcinkaya and Thomas Augustsson (as well as a few other contributors) to the appropriate folders on the network, so now it is just a matter of doing the coding as I find time at work. For the time being, if you have PNEW scans, please send them in hi-res and I'll give them priority for posting. I will also forward them to Owen Linzmeyer for possible inclusion in the "Inside IBNS" publication.
Well, I'm back in action again. It is the beginning of a new semester at my University, which is our busiest time, but I will try to post updates as I am able.
I have reconnected the link to the England (Great Britain) page. Only non-Bank of England images can be posted to the page, but at least the military and miscellaneous scans have been reinstated.
I have only put a dent in the scan posting today (5/26/06). I have a ton of donated scans to post. I want to thank Spartan for volunteering to help me with the identifying and renaming of a majority of the "unspecified" scans that I have received in the past. His efforts are much appreciated and will help to expedite the posting process.
So far, Canada, Great Britain, The Central European Bank, Malaysia, Turkey and U.S.A. have all contacted me to cease and desist placing scans, as they currently exist, on the internet. Much of what drives their motivation revolves around MORONS and CRIMINALS who print off scans and attempt to use them as actual currency, i.e. counterfeiting. Under no circumstances should any of the scans on this site be printed, to do so without the permission of the issuing government is counterfeiting. I won't get into the legal nit-picking, just don't do it. In the future I am reducing all images I post to between 600 & 700 "screen pixels" (the default is 700, smaller notes that scan at slightly higher than 700 I won't bother reducing.)
Please! If you find image linking errors (or any error for that matter) don't be afraid to contact me with the information. I tend to do a lot of updates whenever I can find the time, which means I work very quickly, have many interruptions and make a lot of errors. I rely on visitors and scan donators to the site to proof read for me!
For persons interested in donating scans to the website, I have provided general guidelines for scanning, format, naming, etc., on my "Note Information" page. Please try to follow the guidelines, they will save me a ton of work and allow me to post images much more quickly. Thank you!
I want to apologize to all who e-mail me but don't receive a response. I love to receive e-mail, I just hate to answer it! I also receive numerous requests for prices and note identification, but I just don't have the inclination or time to answer questions of this sort. Sorry.
